These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of PaperOrg, a household document-management platform available at https://www.paperorg.com, app.paperorg.com, and through the PaperOrg mobile applications for iOS (Apple App Store) and Android (Google Play).
By creating an account, subscribing to a plan, or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use PaperOrg.
These Terms constitute a distance contract within the meaning of Directive 2011/83/EU (Consumer Rights Directive). If you are a consumer in the European Union, nothing in these Terms affects your mandatory statutory rights.
1. About PaperOrg
PaperOrg is a household document-management platform that allows users to upload, store, organise, search, and analyse personal documents using artificial-intelligence technology.
PaperOrg may add, modify, or remove features from time to time in order to improve the service, comply with legal requirements, or maintain security. Where a modification materially reduces the functionality of the service, PaperOrg will notify affected users in advance. If the modification materially and negatively affects your use of the service, you may terminate your subscription within 30 days of the notification (see Section 17).
PaperOrg will not intentionally remove access to users' stored documents without reasonable notice, except where required by law, security requirements, or operational necessity.

3. Eligibility
To use PaperOrg, you must: (i) be at least 16 years old; (ii) have legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement; (iii) provide accurate registration information; and (iv) keep your account information up to date.
By creating an account, you confirm that these requirements are met.
4. Your Account
You are responsible for: (i) maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials; (ii) securing the devices from which you access PaperOrg; (iii) all activities occurring through your account; and (iv) activities performed by household members you invite to your workspace.
You must notify PaperOrg promptly at contact@paperorg.com if you become aware of unauthorised access to your account. PaperOrg may suspend access where security risks are identified, and will notify you of the reason for suspension as soon as reasonably practicable.
5. Household Workspaces
PaperOrg allows multiple individuals to participate in a shared household workspace. Household members may be granted access to shared documents by the household owner or administrators.
5.1 Shared documents.
By adding documents to a shared household workspace, you acknowledge that those documents may remain accessible to authorised household members even if you later leave the household.
5.2 Responsibility.
Household owners are responsible for managing household membership and permissions, including controlling which members may view, edit, or remove shared documents. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to share any document you add to a shared workspace. PaperOrg is not responsible for disputes between household members regarding document ownership, access, or retention.
6. Your Content
You retain ownership of all rights in the documents and content you upload to PaperOrg.
6.1 Licence.
You grant PaperOrg a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process, transmit, display, and analyse your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. This includes processing by sub-processors identified in the Privacy Policy (including AI analysis by OpenAI and Anthropic). This licence exists for the duration of your account and terminates when your account is deleted or these Terms end, subject to the retention periods set out in the Privacy Policy.
6.2 Your representations.
You represent that: (i) you have the right to upload the content; (ii) the content does not violate applicable law; and (iii) the content does not infringe third-party rights.
7. Acceptable Use
You must not: (i) upload unlawful material; (ii) upload material you are not entitled to store or process; (iii) interfere with the operation of the service; (iv) attempt to gain unauthorised access to PaperOrg's systems or other users' accounts; (v) reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the service, except as permitted by applicable law; (vi) abuse AI functionality or use it for purposes other than organising your own documents; (vii) circumvent subscription limits or access controls; or (viii) use the service for illegal activities.
PaperOrg may suspend or terminate accounts involved in prohibited conduct in accordance with Section 17.
8. Artificial Intelligence Features
PaperOrg uses artificial-intelligence systems provided by OpenAI (primary provider) and Anthropic (fallback provider) to: (i) classify documents; (ii) extract metadata (dates, amounts, senders, deadlines); (iii) generate summaries and titles; and (iv) answer questions about uploaded documents.
8.1 Limitations.
AI-generated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misleading. You remain responsible for reviewing original documents and verifying important information.
8.2 Not professional advice.
AI outputs are provided solely as organisational and productivity tools. PaperOrg does not provide legal, tax, accounting, financial, insurance, or medical advice. You must not rely exclusively on AI-generated outputs when making important decisions.
8.3 Human oversight.
You can review, correct, or override any AI-generated classification, tag, or summary at any time within the application.
9. Service Description and Pre-Contractual Information
In accordance with Article 6 of the Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU), the following information is provided before you enter into a paid subscription:
9.1 Service.
PaperOrg is a digital service for uploading, storing, organising, searching, and AI-powered analysis of personal and household documents.
9.2 Plans and pricing.
PaperOrg offers the following plans:
(a) Free plan. Available to all registered users. Includes: (i) up to 10 document uploads per calendar month (non-cumulative — unused uploads do not carry over); (ii) 3 AI questions per calendar month; (iii) a total storage limit of 50 documents; (iv) 750 MB total storage capacity; (v) a maximum file size of 50 MB per upload; and (vi) 1 household member (no additional seats). Once the 50-document storage limit is reached, no further uploads are available unless the user deletes documents to free space below the limit or subscribes to a paid plan. AI questions remain available up to the monthly allowance regardless of whether the document storage limit has been reached. Upload-time AI processing (classification, extraction, and organisation) is included for all uploads within the monthly upload allowance.
(b) Paid subscription plans (monthly or annual) with additional features, storage capacity, and AI capabilities. Plan features, storage limits, and pricing are displayed on the pricing page at paperorg.com before purchase. All prices are stated in euros and include applicable taxes.
9.3 Contract duration.
Paid subscriptions run for the billing period selected at purchase (monthly or annual) and renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled.
9.4 Minimum commitment.
There is no minimum commitment period beyond the current billing cycle. You are not required to subscribe for longer than one billing period.
9.5 Functionality and interoperability.
PaperOrg is available as a web-based application accessible via modern web browsers and as a mobile application for iOS and Android. It requires an internet connection. Uploaded documents are stored in the formats submitted. The AI features require server-side processing by OpenAI (primary provider) or Anthropic (fallback provider). PaperOrg supports data export in ZIP format.
9.6 Total cost.
The total cost per billing period is the subscription price displayed at checkout. No additional mandatory charges apply.
10. Billing and Auto-Renewal
10.1 Payment processing.
Paid subscriptions may be purchased through: (i) Stripe (web); (ii) Apple via the App Store (iOS); or (iii) Google via Google Play Billing (Android). By subscribing, you authorise recurring charges according to your selected billing cycle at the price confirmed at checkout. When you subscribe through Apple or Google, the respective platform acts as the merchant of record and processes all payment transactions in accordance with its own terms.
10.2 Auto-renewal.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price for your plan.
Web subscriptions (Stripe). For annual subscriptions purchased through the web, PaperOrg will send a renewal reminder by email at least 15 days before the renewal date. Monthly web subscriptions renew without a separate reminder; the recurring charge date and billing details are visible at any time in your Stripe billing portal.
App Store subscriptions (iOS). Renewal notifications and billing are managed by Apple in accordance with Apple's subscription terms. You can view and manage your subscription through your Apple ID account settings.
Google Play subscriptions (Android). Renewal notifications and billing are managed by Google in accordance with Google Play's subscription terms. You can view and manage your subscription through the Google Play subscriptions menu.
If the price of your plan changes, you will be notified at least 30 days before the new price takes effect and may cancel before it applies.
10.3 Cancellation.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through: (i) the Stripe customer billing portal (web subscriptions); (ii) your Apple ID subscription settings (App Store subscriptions); or (iii) the Google Play subscriptions menu (Google Play subscriptions). Cancellation prevents future renewals but does not terminate your access immediately — you retain access to paid features until the end of your current billing period.
10.4 Downgrade to free plan after cancellation.
When your paid billing period ends following cancellation, the following process applies regardless of which payment provider was used:
(a) Grace period. A 30-day grace period begins. During the grace period, all your documents remain accessible. You will be notified by email that you have 30 days to: (i) export any or all documents using the data-export feature (ZIP download); and (ii) select up to 50 documents to retain on the free plan. The notification will explain that if you do not make a selection, PaperOrg will retain the 50 most recently uploaded documents by default and permanently delete the remainder.
(b) Reminder. PaperOrg will send a reminder email 7 days before the grace period expires.
(c) End of grace period. At the end of the 30-day grace period: (i) if you have selected up to 50 documents to keep, those documents are retained and the remainder are permanently deleted; (ii) if you have not made a selection, PaperOrg retains the 50 most recently uploaded documents and permanently deletes the remainder; and (iii) your account reverts to the free plan with the limits described in Section 9.2(a).
(d) No recovery after deletion. Documents deleted at the end of the grace period cannot be recovered. You are responsible for exporting any documents you wish to retain during the grace period.
10.5 No partial refunds on cancellation.
Cancellation before the end of a billing period does not entitle you to a pro-rata refund for the remaining period, except where required by applicable consumer-protection law (see Section 11).
11. Consumer Withdrawal Rights
If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days of the date you subscribe, without giving any reason.
11.1 How to withdraw.
To exercise your withdrawal right, you must inform PaperOrg of your decision by a clear statement sent to contact@paperorg.com. You may use the Model Withdrawal Form attached as Exhibit A, but it is not obligatory.
11.2 Immediate performance and effect on withdrawal.
Because PaperOrg is a digital service, by subscribing you: (i) expressly request that performance of the service begins immediately; and (ii) acknowledge that, if you subsequently exercise your withdrawal right, you will be entitled to a refund reduced by an amount proportional to the service provided up to the time you communicated your withdrawal, compared to the full coverage of the contract.
11.3 Effect of withdrawal.
If you withdraw within the 14-day period and are entitled to a refund, PaperOrg will reimburse all payments received from you (less any proportional amount for service already provided) without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving your withdrawal notice. Refunds are processed through the original payment provider: (i) Stripe for web subscriptions; (ii) Apple for App Store subscriptions; or (iii) Google for Google Play subscriptions. For App Store and Google Play subscriptions, the refund process is subject to the respective platform's refund procedures, and you may need to request the refund directly through Apple or Google.
11.4 Mandatory rights preserved.
Nothing in these Terms limits your mandatory consumer rights under applicable national law implementing the Consumer Rights Directive.
12. Refunds
If you believe a charge was made in error, contact contact@paperorg.com. PaperOrg will review refund requests fairly and in accordance with applicable consumer-protection law. For web subscriptions, approved refunds will be processed through Stripe to the original payment method. For App Store or Google Play subscriptions, refund requests may need to be submitted through the respective platform's refund process, and PaperOrg will assist where reasonably possible.
13. Availability
PaperOrg aims to provide a reliable service but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability. The service may be temporarily modified, updated, suspended, or restricted for operational, legal, security, or maintenance reasons. PaperOrg will use reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of planned maintenance.
14. Conformity and Remedies (Digital Content Directive)
Under Directive (EU) 2019/770, you have the right to receive a digital service that conforms to this contract. The service must: (i) match the description, features, and functionality set out in these Terms and on our website; (ii) be fit for the purposes for which a service of the same type would normally be used; and (iii) be updated as necessary to maintain conformity during the period of supply.
14.1 If the service does not conform.
If PaperOrg does not conform to the requirements above, you are entitled to: (i) have the service brought into conformity free of charge within a reasonable time; (ii) receive a proportionate reduction in the price; or (iii) terminate the contract, if the lack of conformity is not minor.
14.2 How to report.

15. Backups and User Responsibility
PaperOrg maintains operational backups and recovery procedures for service continuity.
However, PaperOrg is not intended to be the sole archival copy of irreplaceable documents. Users remain responsible for maintaining independent copies of important legal, tax, medical, financial, insurance, or personal records. Users should retain original versions of important documents whenever possible.
16. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property in PaperOrg's software, branding, logos, and associated materials is owned by Luxxow S.à r.l.-S (RCS Luxembourg: B311306).
These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the service for your own personal, non-commercial document-management purposes. You may not copy, distribute, modify, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works based on any part of the service, except as permitted by mandatory applicable law.
17. Suspension and Termination
17.1 By you.
You may delete your account at any time through the account settings. You should export any documents you wish to retain before initiating account deletion. Upon account deletion, your personal data will be handled in accordance with the retention schedule in the Privacy Policy (account data purged within 30 days; encrypted backups expire within 90 days; billing records retained for 10 years as required by Luxembourg law).
17.2 By PaperOrg.
PaperOrg may suspend or terminate your access where: (i) you materially breach these Terms; (ii) legal obligations require action; (iii) security risks exist; or (iv) fraudulent activity is suspected. Where reasonably practicable and legally permitted, PaperOrg will provide notice before suspension or termination, state the reasons, and give you an opportunity to export your documents.
17.3 Effect of termination.
On termination, your licence to use the service ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including Sections 6.2 (your representations), 18 (limitation of liability), 20 (governing law), and any accrued payment obligations.
18. Limitation of Liability
18.1 Unlimited liability.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for: (i) fraud or intentional misconduct; (ii) gross negligence where applicable law prohibits limitation; (iii) death or personal injury caused by negligence; (iv) breach of mandatory statutory consumer rights, including rights under the Digital Content Directive (Section 14) and data-protection obligations; or (v) any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
18.2 Limited liability.
Subject to Section 18.1, PaperOrg shall not be liable for: (i) indirect or consequential losses; (ii) loss of profits, opportunity, or goodwill; or (iii) business interruption, in each case to the extent permitted by applicable law.
18.3 Liability cap.
Subject to Section 18.1, PaperOrg's total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the service shall not exceed the greater of: (a) EUR 100; or (b) the total amount you paid to PaperOrg during the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
19. Force Majeure
PaperOrg shall not be liable for delays or failures in performance resulting from events beyond its reasonable control, including internet or cloud-provider outages, cyberattacks, natural disasters, government actions, labour disputes, or infrastructure failures. PaperOrg will use reasonable efforts to mitigate the impact and resume normal service.
20. Governing Law and Disputes
20.1 Governing law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
20.2 Jurisdiction.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Luxembourg.
20.3 Mandatory consumer protections.
If you are a consumer habitually resident in the EU, you also benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you reside. Nothing in these Terms deprives you of the protection of those mandatory provisions or of the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country in which you reside (Article 6(2), Regulation (EC) No. 593/2008; Article 18, Regulation (EU) No. 1215/2012).
21. Changes to These Terms
PaperOrg may update these Terms from time to time. Where changes are material, PaperOrg will: (i) notify you by email or through the service at least 30 days before the changes take effect; and (ii) describe the nature of the changes. If you do not agree to the revised Terms, you may terminate your subscription and delete your account before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the service after the revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance only for non-material changes; material changes require your continued use after the notice period has expired without you exercising your right to terminate.
